Queenstown

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Ex ANZ Eng » Tue Apr 01, 2008 6:08 pm

I was wondering if anyone has had a go at updating Peter Lohr's scenery for Queenstown.
In FS2004 it was very impresive and in FSX it would be amazing.
Any feedback would be welcomed.

Cheers

I supplied the CAD drawings and photos for the terminal to Peter last year but haven't really heard much since then.

I'd love to hear from Peter L. as I want to convert it from MSFS to X-Plane (well I have converted it, but want to upload it for others to share).

Finally someone who knows where he's at (alt least mostly). Thanks Ian. So I guess he doesn't check his email much eh?

Last thing I heard from Peter he resigned from scenery design...
Breathtakingly gorgeous FS landscapes for New Zealand.

I supplied the original photos and building measurements to Peter for version 1. I was working in Queenstown at the time and managed some time on the tarmac with the rescue guys.

With the upgrade at queenstown airport happening I went to QAC as Daniel De Bono at QAC has done some of his own scenery and was very accomodating. I also have professional contact with the project managers on site and had secured authorisation from QAC to get the design cad drawings, floor plans, elevations etc. The only thing I never got was the paint markings for the taxiways from Fulton Hogan. As a surveyor/engineer I've got all of the toys to use this data, but none of the time.

team

I am wondering if there has been any advances on this !

I have tried to use PL's scenery in FSX but it remains unsuccessful (?)

On selecting NZQN (runway in use) at startup – noticing more parking / gates than there are in FS default – loading stalls with a message: “You are starting in a location in which your aircraft will collide with another object. Choose a different starting locationâ€￾

Given this, I then try to slew the aircraft to NZQN – but at about 3nm & 3000’ agl (scenery of add-on showing, terminal appearing etc) – a crash into a “transparentâ€￾ building !!

It is beyond my skills to solve the above - so I await any advice (even that a payware version is imminent)

regards
