DirectX error when installing

Hey im trying to install directx of the call of duty 4 cd and when I do it finishes installing and says "An internal system error occured. Please refer to DXerror.log in your windows folder to determine problem." Anyone able to help?

Just to state the obvious... but did you actually look at the DXerror.log file in the windows directory??

It should be a plain text file, so if it Windows asks what program you want to use, use Notepad or Wordpad (or the text editor of your choice)

All you need to do is Google the missing file, in this case d3dx9_30.dll and download and install.

Yes i did read it, none of what was in the log made sence to me. Cheers for the help guys

What was the error in the log file? If we can see that, we may be able to offer further help.... or did Nick's suggestion fix it?

how long is the log file? You could just copy and past it, or if its really really big, just take some screenshots, and upload to photobucket and then here. Alternatively, upload the log file to an online file sharing site. Either way, we need to see whats in the file
