Guys those are real photos! I saw the incident right in front of me... It was crazy as! The guy had a very shaky voice when he called a go-around.

That's pretty scary, just goes to show the effect wake turbulence can have.

Yeah- there was a doco on prime the other night about American Airlines Flight 587, the USA's second deadliest aircraft crash after 911, happening only a few months later in November 2001. I had surprisingly never even heard about this event until I watched the show, the A300 crashed into the suburb of Queens due to wake turbulence of a JAL 747 taking off in front of it, then the pilot tried to steady the aircraft and lost control! :(

Also a factor in that crash was incorrect training; which when used caused the rudder to dramatically fail (cause of crash). ;)

Looks like the CT4 was practicing a Chaika side-slip approach!

Very lucky escape - and I believe they're real photos:

1) I heard the radio call "#3 Go around"
2)Heard the massive power increase, and turned around to see the Checker screaming for altitude

And reason number 3, which these pictures can't do justice to:
The entire crowd leftward of the goldpass stand gasped... The voices of say... 2000 people don't lie :P

The call was "Checkers 3 going round" to WF tower, and "S*&% that was close" on Checkers Display freq... :D Just to be precise :P

Great work in the recovery.
