Dash-8 Wellington to Tauranga Overnight

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby victor_alpha_charlie » Fri Apr 18, 2008 4:41 pm

I've been lucky enough to finally be able to go flying with dad in the Dash again, and tonight it's a Tauranga Overnight (As long as the loads aren't too bad). Are there any specific pics/vids anyone wants?

hmm I think I saw the Vincent Dash coming in a few days ago - charter flights presumably? -

An approach video coming into NZTG would be great even if it is dark.

I will wave when you go over my house :)

Charters for Eagle I think. I'll have a ago at a vid, although the flight leaves WLG at 7.05, so it will definitely be dark, and my camera's a bit average. We'll see how it goes :D

Unfortunately, with a joint effort from mum and dad, they screwed up the timing and I wasn't able to go.. They're not my favourite people in the world right now.. <_<

Nope, seeing as the Dash normally covers for 50 seat Q300's, there isn't enough room on the 40 seat Dash 8-100. Tonight was a special Eagle charter due to ANZ/Eagle strikes or something.

What about the jumpseat? :P
Isn't that free?
Anyway hope you can get on soon. B-) I think Vincent Aviation operate the 4.55 Rotorua flight.
I bike out to the airport and watch that if it is a fine day. Try to get yourself on that flight and i can meet you in Rotorua :P

Cheers

yeah what about the jumpseat. But you can surely get aboard the smaller less filled flights on the 402's and the 1900's?

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

Yes, the jumpseat's always free, but if the plane is near full there is a risk of going over the MTOW, so they normally have to kick people off if it goes over that weight. It's a bit unfair just to kick someone off that actually needs to get somewhere just so the bosses son can have a ride in the jumpseat ;) . As would almost certainly be the case for the ROT flight tonight.

VA Doesn't operate the 402 anymore, and the 1900's only really fly during the week when I'm at school, but
A) There's no jumpseat on the 1900
B) It's a bit harder to fly to the 1900 as dad doesn't fly them anymore. Also ANZ don't just book out the number of seats they have to fill, they book out the whole plane, so I'd have to pay ANZ if I wanted to fly with them.
