NZ46 AKL-RAR

I have a bad habit of saying that I'll recreate real world flights after I have flown them, and never getting around to them- so today, for a change, I thought I'd recreate a RW flight before flying it, so I''ll have no excuses when I get back :)

So, last night, I loaded up my sim at Auckland International, created a flight plan for the 4 hour flight to the Cook Islands, and hopped into an Air New Zealand Airbus A320 bound for Rarotonga. Using ActiveSky for current weather and the new Project Airbus v2 aircraft that I had never flown before, made for a moderately interesting trip over the otherwise boaring empty ocean scenery- however, I couldn’t relisit the opportunity to take some screenies along the way, which you can see below:

Departing from a wet and windy Auckland

Cruising along...

Diving down a steep approach into RAR, thanks to crappy M$ ATC’s late clearance

Sorry for the rather bland content- the only content really commentable on from the set are the neat looking dynamic shine on the A320 fuselage and wings, apart from that, sorry for wasting your bandwidth! :P

Right, now it’s time to go and pack my bags for the actual flight, I'll be sure to post some photos from the tropics upon my return. Cheers

Liking those pics Andrew, AKL-RAR/RAR-AKL is one of my favourite routes - especially when using the 767; but you show it off nicely.

Well spotted- its just the default 734 panel that I alias with all my 737s and A320s- I'm only know the very basics of instrument flight, and prefer flying with autopilot on in spot view far too much to bother downloading a new airbus variant :P

Turns out the 767 was used on the real flight, which IMO looks much nicer than the Airbus externally.

Here are some pics I took on approach to the island, the old windows had heaps of scratches on them which the camera picked up, but you can still see the island outline clearly enough to compare it with the mesh in the screenies above…

Damn, looks like you'll have to do it again with a 767 and post more screenies..

Oh and don't forget the 777 ride back! :P

I hate the Meljet 777, the only decent freeware ANZ one that I know of- the Overland one looks good though, but I think I need to buy the entire Boeing package just to get that aircraft... Are there any ANZ repaints for that version?

I know there are an endless supply of Asian paints for those models! :P

If you're someone like me who just knows that basics of instrument flight and doesn't need and FMC or that kind of thing, and wants a great looking, frame rate friendly model with great VC, the Overland pack (Airbus, Boeing or both) may just be the best FS aircraft buy you make ;)

Nope, unfortunately not. I use VASFMC with the Overland series :)
