Flight Experience gives you the chance to fly a sophisticated jet airliner simulator, and puts you in the pilot’s seat at the controls! Flight Experience have branches in Auckland (Takapuna and Botany), Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch. (And also in Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast, and a new branch in Singapore is now open). The New Zealand branches now offer the chance for you to obtain a type rating in the simulator, which will give you the opportunity to fly the simulator without the need for an instructor, and YOU can take your family and friends for rides- A fantastic experience that you will remember forever! The prize for this month’s competition is a one hour session for the winner at any of the New Zealand branches of Flight Experience, where you will have an hour to sit in the captain’s seat of a jet airliner and fly between two cities of your choice, a package valued at $235!

This is the 24th monthly screenshot competition, which is free to enter for all the members of NZFF.

This month's rules are as follows:

1) The screenshot must be from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX, X-Plane, etc), and the position of the shot must be somewhere over New Zealand territory.

2) The image size must be as close as possible to 984 pixels wide- read the uploading screenshot guide to find out how to re-size your shot. Please keep a high res version saved on your computer as the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert it into a site banner!

3) Also remember, try and make your should suitable for a thin rectangular banner. Think about that what positioning your aircraft and camera angles etc. (and please don't include any text on the image either)

4) Images can be submitted from April 30st 2008 to May 31st 2008, with only one entry per member. You can change your submission if you want, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one (by pressing the edit button, to the top right of your post. Please don't make new posts saying you have edited your original post as this makes the thread cluttered).

5) On May 31st , a poll will open and run for a few days to decide who has the best image, then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the Flight Experience prize!

6) Minimal editing is allowed, (brighten/contrast, sharpening, blurring etc, no importation of other images allowed!) if you know how to do it. The more stunning your shots look the better!

7) This month's theme is 'On Finals'- be creative!

All the best to everyone, lets see lots of entries guys! May the best man win!

Footnote: It is general practise that the winner of the month before do not enter the competition. It is up to you though...

I know it wouldn't happen often for real, but here's an ANZ 767 On Finals to Queenstown, with a load of Japanese tourists after a flight from Osaka via Auckland.

Yes Indeedy! It's actually a -200 which I don't think actually flew direct NZ- Japan, but oh well :D

I forgot to thank you and Alister for the awesome prize! I've been in the Wellington one and it's worth every cent! Even more so if it's free

Nice shot Mike, it really shows what is capable without editing, who needs it anyway? I'd be happy to have that as the forum banner for a whole month. <_<

Interesting entry Sam, dont see too much with gliders. One thing though, I always thought the wheels fell off the Horsa when it got airborne.

The weather's been absolutely *disgusting* here in AKL, so I thought I'd kick off my entry with something topical! I had a beautiful "Sunset Dak over Devonport" lined up to show ... until I read the rules :P

So ... I had to make the Warbirds Dak do a forced landing at NZAA, where it got snarled up in the notorious Auckland traffic when trying to return to Ardmore. The thing that's on "short finals" (just to make this pic "legal") is either a UFO or a returning 737 from Wellington ... I couldn't make out the ATC because of the noise of the rain drumming on the roof.

If you're wondering about the landing lights - I was replacing the 23L VASI lights that had shorted out in the deluge ;)

No editing ... just a crop.
