He actually already has one. Ansett flew 737-100's in NZ when they were first here, and he was a pilot on them. He sure isn't current though

Hopefully the 732 doesn't have one of those stupid hush kits haha. Hope the deal goes well, would LOVE to see more 732's back in NZ, only know of the airwork 732 in NZ and I've never seen it even though someone said they fly to ChCh

Uh-oh

It has a hush kit installed, but it's not one of those dorky looking ones sticking out the back of the engine. You can't actually tell the difference easily, except a hush-kitted 732 has slightly longer nacelles.
Also the easiest way to tell a hush kitted 732 is that on a non-kitted one, the clamshell thrust reversers open vertically (One at the top, one at the bottom), and if it is kitted then the reversers open up at a funny angle- here's a picture showing what I mean, with a hush-kitted 737-200:

Note they have not opened from the top and the bottom, but instead on an angle.


I couldn't find a pic of a non-kitted 732, which demonstrates how rare they are nowdays.

Every time I look at a pic of a JT8D on reverse thrust during the landing roll, I can still hear it in my head. There is something about the -200 that just feels so 'fast' when you're on the runway in either take-off or landing configuration.

Really pleased to hear VAL are growing. Just goes to show how much sense your dad had in deciding to work WITH ANZ rather than against them

Hush kits are standard anyway, or Atleast in Australia- you have to have them on or CASA will be on your tail

The angle of the reverse thrust has nothing to do with hushkitting, it's actually an aerodynamic thing. Essentially the vertical ones didn't work so were modified in 1969 to the 35 degree angle.

The Delta 737s though were fitted with a much nicer looking hushkit than fitted to NQC. It is almost invisible, as opposed to that big stupid looking thing that NQC has. Have a look at these pics:

That's what I mean. Passengers will tend to go on the look of an aircraft when they judge what condition it is in, surely they would prefer to fly in a plane with brand new paint and a new interior? NQC would look much better with a new coat of paint, or at least not being all-white.

Air Comet Chile (the white model).

I believe Air National is moving out of our hangar in Wellington, and the current hangar will be enlarged to fit the new aircraft plus offices.

From what Dad has been saying, one Jetstream will be based in Auckland, the other in Nelson.

Funny thing is that was the idea of it, finding new ways of putting the logo on the 73, and Dad actually mentioned that we could do what Qantas do and have the logo over the whole tail, like you've done here.
