Anyone any idea on the id of the Aerostar that was whizzing about today?

Probably ZK-JOS, based at Ardmore? It's been flying a lot lately. Beautiful plane too might I add.

Here's the culprit:

Photo is a few years old, but it's still wearing that same paintscheme. Owned by a North Shore based company.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I reckon it looks great - fast too.

Looks like someone mixed a Tri-islander and an Aero Commander together!

Funny you should mention Aero Commander - the similarity is no coincidence -they are designed by the same guy - Ted Smith - see here

Not sure how you see a Tri-islander in it?

I was lucky enough to try out an Aerostar in Australia, and they are a delight to fly and land, fast and smooth in the air but gentle at the same time. I would certainly love one!!

smooth landings.

Thanks guys.
Great looking and an impressive sound, should really still be called the Ted Smith Aerostar
always thought calling it a Piper Pa makes it seem whimpy.

Great looking plane, though the rudder looks too small.

There's another one floating around Ardmore. It belongs to Bill Buckley, MVY is the rego I think. I think there's one hanging out at Wigram too.
