I went for a hot lap in one of those V8's at the Holden performance driving centre- a helluva lot of fun! decent g-force into corners and stopping, i'd hate to do that for a few hundred laps at Bathurst!

I used to have a holden commodore VL, and it was the most ureliable and expensive to maintain car I have ever owned. Sure, when it was going well it was great, but if it was not, then $$$. We had it for 12 months, and in that time spent twice as much on repairs as we paid for it.

Oddly, the next car we got was a Toyota.

I'd prefer a stockcar over either of them anyday, only problem is they're not road legal. Although with a 30mm steel fram surrounding the driver, and a big rover, nissan or toyota V8 strapped in I'm not sure anyone would want to get in your way!

In all honesty I'd rather a light hatchback to a big heavy sedan.

I say bring back the days when major touring car racing in Australia and New Zealand didn't consist of two cars. People remember the days when there were Skylines and Jaguars blitzing Bathurst?

Also, I'm a neither person as far as the road going versions go.

Hehe.. when I was at the Hamilton400 I took every opportunity to yell out "Nissan" whenever there was a lull in crowd participation in the Holden-vs-Ford calls from the announcers, got some very strange looks, we thought it was funny anyway

Well, I dont think Nissan (or other Japanese manufacturers) need to enter the 'V8 Supercars' in order to prove their dominance again....They are so far ahead of the Aussie manufacturers both in road cars and in race car production.

It would be good to just have some recognition of that by the 'Ford Vs Holden' brigade though.
