Awesome! May have to shell out some more cash for the AH Spitty pack (I'm sure that is the only 2-seat model) Provided of course a repaint becomes avaliable :D

Well its flying and quite actively at that.
We flew up in a Nanchang after being invited to take the first Air 2 Airs of it and it is an amazing aircraft and is one of the best looking two seaters I have seen.

Doug and Keith spent today flying it with Doug in the front for the first time and is flying it very well.
We had a great day for photos with blue sky and high cloud.
Cant post any photos for a while but just thought I would give you a bit of info.

Only just got back before dark but flew to Ardmore return with half an hour in between for air 2 airs and only flew 5.1 hours all up so we did pretty well but only had 10 minutes of daylight when we got home.

Well I don't know if Aeroplane Heaven timed it this way but their 2-seater model just became freeware
Repaints are assured now I'd say ;)

Lucky you Gav!

Did anyone catch the Spitty on 3 News? I missed it, but after a quick search on the TV3 website I couldn't find any related videos. Is it online yet?

Congrats Gav, you must be stoked! Looking forward to seeing the pics! Hope your Chang pilot had a good time too. Sounds like a really cool way to spend a day.

Nice to hear Doug's up and about in her so soon, that's fantastic news!

That is way too much of a coincidence!

The model's great, easy on FPS and much more 'arcadey' to fly compared to the Real Air one- plus you can even download a Griffon engine sound pack from the AH site... I expect to see a Kiwi repaint available by at least the end of the month :P

Achtung! Achtung! Spitfeur!
</command war comics mode>

Damn... should have gone out to the field right after work instead of waiting for ECT... might have seen it! :(

But yay.... hopefully the weather will be kind this weekend for some more flying...

Um...............a Griffon? Why would you need a GRIFFON sound pack for a TR.9, Andrew? Why? WHY?! IT'S GOT A MERLIN!!!!

Sorry. I tend to get a bit finicky with these things

Haha, yeah I remember having searched up the model engines in Wikipedia last time I got it wrong in Charl's Spitfire thread, but it still sounds bloody awesome :P

So.... how about VVFNZ knocking us up the kiwi paint for this trainer ay?

Nice to see the Irish Air Corps. being represented
Thats my patriotism done for the day...

Now get thee a Merlin soundtrack!
They all sound different - the Merlin, the Griffon and the DB-601...
The Merlin has that wonderful creamy smooth back-note, the Griffon is like a gorilla beating its chest while a pack of rabid Rottweilers are barking away and the DB-601 has a crisp-snap-crackle and pop going on with a very turbine-like whine

Interestingly Irish Air Corps "161" is herself a preserved warbird....or should I say was.

This was G-CCCA is 2006. She now wears Dutch markings

Unfortunatley only a few weeks ago this happened.

This is a photo I took of her as PV202 at Duxford (Spitfire air Show, 16 Spits in the air!!) in 1998 prior to the fatal crash not long after, and then subsequently rebuild as 161
