Saw that too, bit gay how they made it sound so dramatic in the typical American style- "Taking off the engine is incredibly dangerous work. Any one of the engineers could be horribly crushed at any moment!".. Erm..
They wouldn't get a regular Air Traffic controller to talk them down, they'd get a pilot of that particular aircraft (maybe the airline's chief pilot or something?).
Sure, landing a 767 at Chicago O'Hare you could just press buttons, but what about a Q300 at Nelson? Even a 733 at Palmy? I guess it's extremely unlikely it would happen anyway.

Just GETTING a 733 at Palmy would be a good enough experience, never mind how it landed!
I agree Kari is a rather hot arrangementAnd it was cool seeing the PAC 750XL displayed proudly on the side too.

That's one of the points that they made - their research indicated that it has never happened on a commercial airliner.

meh... flying aircraft is easy... at least according to this guy:QUOTEWhen I grow up I want to be a pilot because it's a fun job[1] and easy to do[2]. That's why there are so many pilots flying around these days. Pilots don't need much school[3]. They just have to learn to read numbers so they can read their instruments. I guess they should be able to read a road map[4], too. Pilots should be brave so they won't get scared if it's foggy and they can't see, or if a wing or motor falls off[5]. Pilots have to have good eyes to see through the clouds[6], and they can't be afraid of thunder or lightning because they are much closer to them than we are. The salary pilots make is another thing I like[7]. They make more money than they know what to do with[8]. This is because most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots don't because they know how easy it is. I hope I don't get airsick because I get carsick and if I get airsick, I couldn't be a pilot and then I would have to go to work[9].[/quote]

[1] - Very true...
[2] - Not quite so true...
[3] - I suppose you can self study the theory...
[4] - Obviously he subscribes to the IFR (i follow roads) school of flying
[5] - I can definitely see the benefits of this
[6] - As Trevor says... if you can see through it, you can fly through it... GO GO GADGET XRAY VISION!
[7] - Ahah... the true revealed
[8] - Obviously he has never met a GA pilot
[9] - Heaven forbid! But seriously, this is why I want to be a pilot... who wants to work for a living?"Son, we are about the break the surly bonds of gravity, and punch the face of God." -- Homer Simpson
