Hi everyone
I'm Tim from Hamilton. I have been flying flight simulators for about 6 years (I think). I currently use FSX and fly mostly in New Zealand. I am interested in anything that flies and hope to be a pilot as a career. I found these forums when I saw two people wearing NZFF shirts at the Ohakea open day. So I suppose the advertising does work!
Tim

Awesome stuff Tim, I'm sure that Andrew and Jared will be stoked that the shirts worked.

Greetings all!

I'm new to the NZFF group but certainly not simming as I've been using MSFS since the good old vector line days of Flight Sim 3.0! I'm probably what most would call an aviation nut - I joined the RNZAF straight out of high school as a Military Policeman and later became a Helicopter Crewman on the trusty UH-1H Iroquois and served in Timor, Bouganville and the Solomon Islands. I've since left the military and am currently a tower controller at NZHN airport, although I'm leaving in a couple of years to work as a controller at Oceanic Radar in Auckland. I also have a PPL but don't get to fly nearly enough - and my BFR is a long time overdue. I've never really contributed to this great hobby in all this time - but am pleased to say that I'm using my position at Hamilton Tower to help give Mike (Creator2003) and Lawrie (Snowman) access to the airfield to provide their fantastic photoreal scenery to you all! I also built a home cockpit that I use with a variety of payware and freeware addons. Just wanted to say 'HI' - hope you don't mind the images!

Mat

Hello! Thanks for having me on board. I'm more of an old timer than I care to admit. I started in flightsimulation around 1980 when the Jumbo program was released for the BBC microcomputer. Since then, I've flown all the MS simulations starting with FS95. We've come a long way in those 13 years - unbelievable! I used to imagine that we might one day fly over realistic scenery but hardly dared believe it would happen in my lifetime, and certainly not at a price I could afford.

Most of my flying has been in Alaska - an odd choice for an Ulsterman, you might think. I was drawn to it by a very small VA, now sadly defunct, called Alaska Gold. There were never more than about 10 active pilots at any one time and we flew FS2002/2004. It was a great group with some highly talented scenery designers, engineers, flight ops experts. I learned so much about flying and about the geography and history of Alaska. Now and then we flew multiplayer although the time differences made this very awkward. Since the demise of AG I've not found anything quite like it again but I keep hoping.

So I'm looking forward to exploring New Zealand, a country I would dearly like to visit, especially during the rugby internationals, my other passion!

Welcome John, we'll be kind...
And you've come to the right place, to explore a bit more of NZ than you'd find elsewhere!

Hey Guys

I'v been a member and a regular poster at NZFF for three quarters of a year or so, a while anyway, but I haven't introduced myself yet.

Like Alex and Daniel and a few others, I live in Rotorua.
Recently I turned fifteen, but I was 14 when I joined.
I have strong interests in aviation and flight simming, as well as photography, computers and technology. Hopefully I should be able to start some kind of flying lessons shortly.

As for my flight simming career, it's fairly non existent. I am a member at Virtual Air NZ with a few hours built up, but as some people will know, vANZ is lacking something. I also don't have the time to commit to a virtual airline.

In real life I don't do nearly enough flying, although its mostly on the 1900D, Q300 and ATR. Plus a couple on the good old Saab and the 737.

Thanks to Trolly and team for NZFF.

Cheers

Hi Anthony,

Really good to see so many future aviators here.
Simming experience will help in real life, especially Navigation and instrument familiarization.

Plus it is so much fun.

Cheers

Hi.
I'm from Wellington, and am brand new to the forums and to FS2004.
I haven't had much experience with flightsims since the days of the 48k spectrum.
I am fascinated by helicopters and have spent 2 weeks trying to master a FS2004 hover, lol.
The good news is I can now stick a landing 90% of the time - assuming I can actually get onto the computer as my 6 yr old step-daughter has fallen in love with flying a cessna upside down. Yay for 'no crashes'. Looking forward to multiplay with some of you, and speaking on TS.
Zacc.

Good to have you onboard Zacc, the guys usually organise a few casual multiplayer flights over the weekend, but it's been a bit quiet lately on that front... I'll have to kick something off tomorrow night. smile.gif

Suppose id better add my part (yes Mr A185F, i know)
My names Jacob,
I do a lil flightsimming, but more into the "real-world" aviation side of life, I have a PPL, currently flying 172s (and the odd 150....ugh) and working towards my CPL at the moment, i work part time on the tarmac at Air Nelson (always good times to be had there), and from the years i have been around, also do my share of spotting/photographing (I dont know any pilot who goes to a new town and doesnt check out the airport cool.gif ) i know quite a few people around the different parts of Nelson Airport aswell (its how i get all my juicy goss thumbup1.gif )
If you want to know anymore PM me...
