Was one very cold June , a BAC 167 Strikemaster run into very serious problems ..... a storm front so quick and violent ! ninja.gif south of Wellington on a Armed training flight of the worst , a massive hit from a lightning strike seriously damaging the aircraft .. shutting a lot off systems down , activating some till they failed and arming weapons ! , ejection systems killed and wiring frayed .
The Wellington born pilot figured his best chances was NZWN rather than return to Ohakea , engine not running to perfect .. but not knowing the damage on the outside .. and with gear lights saying down .. attempted a landing in the wild weather , just shere luck Willie Apiata VC and his private NZArmy Unimog saved the day !

He saved the pilot , the plane .... one reporter ask , were did you get the idea .... Willie VC .. said INTERNATIONAL RESCUE , The THUNDERBIRDS smile.gif New_Zealand_etc.gif

whew, got it on the deck, safe and sound, lightening everywhere, rain and hail, strong cross wind, eveything else was shut, diversion was not an option

In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

my (first) contribution. Nothing too dramatic, just some snow on the way to Timaru at the beginning of the month.

Nice, Ran. The first entry that the 'wild weather' isn't rain laugh.gif

Since I haven't been able to find any bad weather in the South Island this month (much promised, but not much delivered) I went a bit further afield.
Wellington in the fog, and some scary looking clouds...

Heres mine.....Heli logging in the Milford Sound, a cold southerly brings rain and makes flying even more difficult.

IFR approach at dawn heading for Invercargill in a bit of snow with cumulus above and fog below. I do like the New Zealand paints featuring The Lord of The Ring theme. This Air New Zealand paint for the default A321 is at avsim, I think. Would love to know of other paints for any aircraft with the theme. I really enjoy the weather theme for the contest and the entrys certainly inspire my effort to make a screenshot from the New Zealand weather at the far south of the country. I take a stab at it. Not a hard screen to take but the flying to a landing from cruise above the clouds to landing lived up to the weather theme. I enjoyed the flight especially as I haven't been so far south in New Zealand nor pushed the theme of winter snow and am not cetain Invercargill gets such weather in reality. FSX SP2 DX9

Some nice entries again this month, but I think I have a pretty good idea who I'm going to vote for.
