Hi Thunder,
My first piece of advice for you would be to search the
AVSIM library until you find the particular repaint you want. Alternatively, if you're looking for the Air NZ 744, then I would suggest the POSKY model from
here.
Now just click the download button, and wait for it to download.
Then it's pretty simple. All you need to do is unzip the file. If you're just using the default Windows extractor, just right click the file you have downloaded, and 'Extract All.' Choose your output folder, then click extract. This process may take some time, depending on the size of the file, and the speed of your computer.
Once this is done, you should have the extracted folder. Now, seeing as this file is a complete aircraft model, there isn't too much work that you need to do. Just search for the extracted folder, and then copy the folder 'aircraft' into your
main FS directory. E.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Then do the same with any other folders inside the extracted folder 'effects,' 'gauges,' etc.
That's all. Then just load up FS, and select this aircraft.
Installing repaints are much the same - just a couple of differences. Firstly, when downloading a repaint, it assumes you already have the base aircraft installed. So, once you have unzipped the folder, you will probably only see a folder called 'texture.xxx'
What you will need to do then, is to search for the aircraft that you are supposed to install the repaint to, and copy the texture.xxx folder over to the main folder for that aircraft. So, now when you go into for example the folder named 'ANZ 747' you will see the original folders 'model,' 'sound,' 'texture,' etc, and now also the 'texture.xxx' folder that you have just downloaded.
Your next step will be to install the repaint. There should be instructions with your download on how to do this. It will involve opening the .cfg file inside the aircraft's folder. It will be easier for you to read the documentation that came with the texture download in this instance.
Hope some of this made sense to you.
Please ask if there is anything else
