Speaking of the Zune, I'm not aware of it being available in New Zealand. I'm pretty sure MS only released it to US and then Canada or something.
Of course I could be wrong.

Not really a fan of the Zune myself, and I think you'd become the laughing stock of the internet, or rather your Zune would. pirate.gif

My mate at school has one, and I've seen them on Trademe. Why would I be the 'laughing stock of the internet' with a Zune?

I've struggled to get the big idea behind the 'i' things too. Really don't see what's the big difference from a regular mp3 player an an ipod for example, except for a brand name.

You cant really say that Deeknow, have you ever used a Mac? Im 99% sure your opinion of them would change, for the better or the worse.

Err.. Yes.. I can say that.. in fact I did laugh.gif

Don't get me wrong, I have used Macs, I've worked with many people who ONLY use them, I think the iPhone platform is great, OSX too, got no problem with the technology. As I say I just get annoyed by the evangelism. Of all places please dont let this forum degrade into a Mac vs PC debate thumbup1.gif

Find me an MP3 player that will hold songs, photos and videos (30gb worth) and is as easy to use and as cheap as an Ipod, and has all the 'extras' (like my Itrip for music in the car) and I'll look at buying it.

Because there's a bit of a stigma on some internet sites that the Zune is a POS and stuff.
I don't personally agree with it because it's a bit stupid, but certainly some have a bit of a bigoted attitude towards the Zune.
Engadget is a good example. Especially the original brown colour.

I also think that Microsoft lacks commitment to the Zune, as they don't have much of an ecosystem and it just doesn't seem like their area and stuff.

Just so you know, I wasn't entirely serious with that comment winkyy.gif

Yeah I've borrowed one for a week and it was great, not too worried about what others think tbh.

the main grudge i have with the zune is that theres no clock.... on ANY model. Which means no alarms, no sleep timers, no stopwatch. Funnily enough, 30 day trial period on songs still works....

The iphone is great as a device. I wouldnt call it practical as a phone. Its under featured (a $600+ phone that doesnt take videos), and its too big and the wrong form factor to use with one hand. No doubt, its a chick magnet, (i used to have an ipod touch), but i dont think i would be able to text all day on it.

Im waiting for the n96 to come out. Thats where all the action is

Unfortunately BB, I probably wouldn't call any phone a 'chick magnet'.

What kind of girls are you looking for? laugh.gif

Not going to iPhone.

I don't do Vodafone, there is no 3G voice & broadband coverage outside of major centres, voice coverage is less than telecom. No coverage no iphone.

Wow! Never Realised the limited coverage NZ has. In Australia, 99% of australia is covered, and Telstras 3G is available almost country wide.

Bollocks, there goes that excuse:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/story.cf...jectid=10519985

It was my pretty thinly veiled excuse anyway. I just don't like Apple - and yes I have had one, it was a ][e with sublogic Flight Simulator on it!

Given 99% of Australia is populated by 2 people, you have to ask: WHY??

Dingos have iphones.

Truth be told I think the NZ & Oz figures are probably cr@p. Vodafone NZ claims 62% of New Zealand covered by 3G. I think it's probably more accurate that it is 99% of Australians and 62% of New Zealanders. I could be wrong. Again.

Nah, no apple stuff for me, I've got a Philips mp3-player type thing, the iPods were just really expensive for what you were buying (although the clickwheel is nice), and a middle-of-the-range Samsung phone, I don't really need anything else.

iPhone looks like way too much hassle, it's really expensive, support will probably be a bit tricky (and repairs expensive!), and apple aren't renowned for having build quality perfected (at least in the way of their smaller products - like iPods). smile.gif

Campbell Live reported that the subsidised price will be $199 but then $6000 in plan charges over 2 years.
This will be on tonight at 7.00 PM on TV3 for anyone interested.
Not worth it in my opinion. The iPhone might be wonderful/brilliant/amazing etc but it's not worth $6200.

With regards to support, I've always found Apple's support to be brilliant.
Off topic, but I broke my iPod headphones two years after I bought it.
The iPod was out of warranty and it was my fault, but they replaced the headphones anyway - with an upgraded set too.

Well the $6000 price being touted by the media is one of the higher-spec plans. Can get it for about $80 a month on a 24 month contract (paying about $550 for phone on that plan). So probably a few options out there, not just the $250 per month plan. laugh.gif
