freeware scenery has trees in black boxes

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

i just installed some freeware wellington scenery from avsim but im using fsx and i think there is a clash somewhere. (sorry, i cant get an image as my computer is being too slow to get it hosted). the trees (that are are part of the pack) have black squares around them. it is very ugly so im not too happy about leaving it like this. is there a way to fix it, or a file i need to delete to get rid of just the trees. or is it going to look like that forever? also note i havent installed the next two files

Are you running FS9 or FSX?

Ahaha, oops. Most probably the scenery was designed for FS2004, not FSX, and has rotate-to-user trees - a single picture that turns to face you (scenery was put together by Robin? smile.gif)

The rotate-to-user trick doesn't work with SP2; the trees get black boxes around them. I don't think that this is really resolvable - just a result of software made for FS2004 being used on FSX. smile.gif

Getting rid of the trees though, you'd probably have to get in contact with the authors to find out which file does which, although someone here might know... winkyy.gif

Fair enough; if you're looking for a good Wellington scenery - check out Real NZ Wellington. smile.gif
