Yer stick with what you've got for sure.
Corsair has a good reputation in most things and although the TX650 isn't modular I can't foresee there being any problems with it.
I'm sure if there's something that's not going to work with something else, whichever store you're buying from will let you know or you can just RMA it when you get it and it doesn't work.

Most of all, have fun with the new com when it gets to you thumbup1.gif

Any benefit to be gained by running 2 HD4850's in Crossfire?
Also why the change to a Quad core?
just trying to get a system together myself. Awkward with forever changing goal posts smile.gif
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Probably not much gained. When you think about it you have to buy a PSU with 4 6pin PCI-e connectors, and at least 600w (extra cost), a mobo with crossfire ability (extra cost), an extra graphics card (extra cost), you're probably better off getting a high-end single card.

I've read quite a few topics with people praising the Q6600 as a cheapish for performance card. Good for FSX and future proofing as well (quad core).

I doubt it. For two HD4850s I think you would have reached the point of diminishing returns for your dollar.
It's nice in theory, and if you've got the money to throw at it then it would give you some benefit, but I agree with Nick - you'd be better off with a single high end card like the HD4870 or Nvidia's GTX or something.
I think the HD4870 is priced similarly to two HD4850s and I think would give you better performance, especially if your mobo is only 16x and 8x in its PCIe slots which will probably actually reduce your Crossfire/SLI performance compared to having just one upper-mid range card like the HD4850.

Good to hear that you've ordered your parts Nick.

I have to disagree... 2x HD4850's in crossfire a significantly cheaper than a GTX280... and perform almost as well as one!

They certainly outperform a 4870, and cost only marginally more...

Right now... bang for buck = HD4850... ~$300 for a card that is outperforming the 8800GTX's and holding its own with the 9800GTX's!?!?! ninja.gif
