Ian mate, regardless of any issues with perspective or scale or anything else, that is still one quality drawing.

I would love to have something like that hanging in my room.

Wow Ian really good!!!. Another way to do pictures like that (although it is cheating) is to use Paint.net's Ink sketch or pencil drawing feature.
For example:
Here is Gavin's Spitfire shot normal

Now here it is with the pencil sketch thingy

lets try an ink sketch this time

Finally a painting of the Spitfire

Of course its not as good as Ian's but its a very cool little time waster/helper

I started drawing from a very early age (4) and my early years were obsessed with space and machines (trucks, cranes trains). In my teens I got into aviation and my artwork was themed that way from then on. I have not had any training in art, so I'm self taught and I guess it was a natural talent. I guess I'm more of an Illustrator than artist. My last painting to be completed was in the early 90's as I have not had the time, space, or passion to get back into it. In fact I still have a few paintings imcomplete from back then. I guess I find FS design a better outlet for my talents as there is less mess and easier to get right !!
Anyway some of the different examples of finished work I have are below. They have been either scanned or photographed.

Grumman AgCat - Watercolour with pencil and crayon - size A3 scanned

Mustang - Pencil Sketch - size A3 scanned

Spitfire - Acrylic on canvas - size A2 photographed

Thrush - Pencil Sketch - size A3 scanned - I was just 17 when I did this in 1985, doubt I'd tackle this type of thing again !!

Tigermoth Topdressing Pilot - Inkpen freehand sketch - A4 scanned

Space Walk - Acrylic on cardboard - A2 photographed

Moon Walker - A4 Watercolour - A4 scanned

Lastly my 8 year old son did this last night - He's enthralled by WW2 and currently "the Dam Busters". He drew the Lancaster from a picture he printed off the internet. It was against a full blue sky so he added the background himself. I was impressed and this prompted me to get my art out and share. Looks like he has got some talent too as I have not given him any help other than the odd bit of constructive criticism. A4 scanned sketch.

Deane .. finally ! .. were have you and your son been ... hiding away in the closet drawing and paint IN , ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT , i simply love the canopy reflection on the P51 and your colour change light refraction in the Spitfire , but my ultimate fave would be .. Lancaster !

Having Marty stop today , both chewing the fat on the big bikes and speeds we rode , arr the good days when 100km was only 30 minutes , back to the real world
we chatted and low and behold gave me a book , now i wish i had this for a job , maybe i could start my own action war brand comic or even contact this group
