FSX cfg changes, FPS increases

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby Peppermint » Thu Jul 10, 2008 9:15 pm

Hopefully this is the last question I have to ask related to FSX winkyy.gif

Just wondering the FPS increases with this:

Regular FSX install
" " " with cfg changes
FSX install with SP1
" " " with cfg changes
FSX install with SP2
" " " with cfg changes

With settings on...about medium, what's the average increase, and average FPS over populated areas?

Also, is it possible to have 2 FSX installs? 2 seperate harddrives, one for FSX with accleration, and one for FSX with SP1 without them conflicting? I've heard stories that it works, and stories that it doesn't. Can anyone confirm?

there seems to be alot of conflicting stories out there about this, my real world experience showed that i got a good 5-10 FPS when i installed SP1, and i gained maybe another 1-2FPS with SP2. i did notice that with SP2 FSX seemed to run smoother, with less stutters, but then i am running an old p2.4. needless to say that your experience will differ, and another note, it would seem that almost all new FSX addons will have to have SP2 installed to work.
i agree with Ian, you are mad to run FSX with our either SP1 or SP2, and you won't have to tweak as much in the config, SP2 seems to fix all that the tweaking did

hope that helps a little

I dont believe it is possible to install FSX twice since it requires online validation- This can only be done for one installation.

Yes it works .. I test some d/loads on this PC system before placing them on my Flightsim PC system. Standard modern/router setup .

Edit .. I have even run multi-player many time running aircraft here and test flying Naval types .. get a lot off screenshots that way .
