Qantas yet again...this time in NZ sad.gif
QUOTE
A Qantas Boeing 747 was grounded in Auckland this morning.

Flight QF 25 was on its way to Auckland last night from Melbourne when one of its engines shut down. Spokeswoman Holly Williams says the crew managed to restore power and land the plane safely.

The grounding adds to the airline's list of problems with aircraft maintenance and engine performance of late. Yesterday the airline grounded a further six planes after finding discrepancies in their maintenance records.[/quote]

Surely can't be getting a good view from the public on their fleet.

And the screw in the tail.

That one was pretty serious. ohmy.gif I remember a few years ago an Alaskan MD 80 crashed because the jack screw failed.
I think Qantas really do need to make some serious changes to there maintanance as at the moment they will be scaring away alot of potential passengers.
Although they pride themselves on there "never lost an aircraft" saying, if they don't watch it they will have to erase that title.

Hmm Qantas are grounding their Aussie 737-400s as well I heard.
Bit of a ratty time for the red rat at the moment, something's gone seriously wrong.
Maybe we will see some changes soon, there certainly needs to be some.
The other thing to consider is that Qantas will be getting increased media attention as a result of these incidents, so anything that does go wrong will be heavily scrutinised.

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

Bahaha laugh.gif

I actually think its funny you ever contemplate it. I feel safer in an Aircraft than walking down a city street at 1am showing off my gold jewelry. (If you catch my drift)

I wouldn't have much of a problem flying them myself. smile.gif
Some of what you hear is a little bit disturbing or distressing though.
In the end you'll probably be fine on Qantas. Despite what the media says, not every Qantas flight or every Qantas aircraft has problems (just 99% of them).

Funny how you guys say these things, Qantas has one of the best aviation safety records in the world. A couple of the main 'accidents' that have been bandied around by the media were the non-closing gear door and hydraulic fluid leak; these are reasonably frequent around the world and I struggle to comprehend how the entire aircraft could have been endangered unless you had a worst-case scenario come up and bite you on the bum at the same time.

Just the media playing 'know it all' with aircraft. I mean, they even reported a Qantas plane that had a 'small panel' fall off during flight, and were told it was a non structural panel, and didn't endanger the aircraft. The thing I don't get, is why the media goes ahead and reports things if no one was in danger...

With the fuel prices like they are, and the media constantly tracing anything and everything that Qantas do, Qantas are going to lose a lot of money through this. If Qantas went under, are there any other 'big' airlines operating in Australia to fill the gap, in the unlikely case that Qantas went under? I know there's Virgin Blue, not exactly 'big' in comparison to Qantas...but anyone else? If Qantas went under, what happens to Jetstar and other airlines operated under Qantas?

WHy would Qantas ever go under? The Australian government would just chuck some more money into Qantas if they were starting to take a turn for the worse.

I thought the Australian Govt owned a stake in Qantas? Even if they don't Qantas is Australia's national airline so that has to mean something laugh.gif

In 1993 the Government sold of the remaining share to Qantas, therefore Privatizing the airline.
