Need some help please!!!

I have been getting messages from Vista telling me to speed up my system using Ready Boost (inserting a flash based memory via the usb port). I have Vista 32 bit and have 4GB of RAM installed. I believe that Vista 32 bit can only use a maximum of 3.5GB of RAM, so is there anything to gain by using a flash memory card and Windows Ready Boost????

Tried to find the answers on the net, but no success, help please!!

smooth landings.

I use Readyboost from a 2GB USB stick - it does make a bit of a difference, and things do run faster.

It's not as effective as I thought it would be, though winkyy.gif

If you've already got 4GB of RAM, then you won't need it - I think if you use 32-bit Vista, then 4GB is the max it can use. If you use 64-bit, then it can use more smile.gif.

Ready Boost is not extra RAM... it is a system used for disk caching... the idea being the system identifies often used data, and stores in on the flash drive as it should (hopefully) have a faster seek time than a standard hard drive...

I would have thought that the slower access speed would negate most of any gain from reduced seek time. blink.gif
