Took the plunge and purchased this add on, which at the equivalent of NZ$ 269 plus postage, was the most expensive software that I have ever bought. Tried to recreate a real life flight that we did last year (not in this aircraft though) around the famous mountains in Switzerland. Managed to get a real C172 up to 11 750 feet with 4 adults onboard (no, we did not take off with full fuel to stay below MAUW!). I only have a Nvidia 8600GT graphics card but they recommend a minimum of 512mb graphics RAM to run Switzerland X. Here is the simulation. Interesting that it only has a 19m mesh, I would have expected a slightly higher resolution for the money, but look at the results!

smooth landings.

wow nice shots - does the "ZK-MIF" scheme work with the FSX version of the 206?

Back in FS2002 I collected all Daniel Gaulthier's Swiss sceneries, and spent many happy hours in bizjets and GA aircraft visiting exotic locations in that beautiful country.
There was a brilliant little scenery of the shortest strip in Switzerland, STOL aircraft only. Painted so in BIG letters on the runway threshold, too.
Smoke from the chimney! Umbrellas out at the picnic table (in summer only!)
Heli-skiing at St Moritz was a long-standing favourite.
(Perhaps not what you think - this involved flying to the mountain top in a ski-equipped BO 105, and seeing if you could break 100kts sledding down the ski-run, crash detection ON.)
I am soo tempted by this scenery - many standalones are compatible with it - photoreal, with winter textures, too.
Best of all, it is a FS9/FSX dual release...
But the price!
HT, I'm assuming there will be more Parts to follow...?
And a hard look at the possible downside of the investment?

Yes, the C206 from Carendo DOES work in FSX, I just used their patch to update then transferred it, including the MIF paintscheme.

Regarding the Switzerland X price and was it worth it, it is very nice but if you look at some of the screenshots you will see that the snow has a tiled pattern, more evident on some shots than others. The package is 16GB and has only a 19m mesh. To be honest, when I think of the price (NZ $269 plus postage) and compare it to Real NZ, I still prefer my Marlborough X or Wellington X. I guess that Real NZ Auckland will be even better. The airports in particular in Switzerland X look rather basic, especially if you have seen some of the quality ones in Germany that Aerosoft are offering, and are below the standard of Real NZ. It makes me appreciate Real NZ even more.

That said, I will have a lot of fun flying around CH, but was it worth so much money? My conclusion is that some other sceneries are offering far higher quality at a lower price, this package almost seems like it is a couple of years behind the others. Real NZ is still tops!

Smooth landings.

Assume it is just the countrywide photoreal backdrop?
What if anything do they do about airports and other buldings?
