There are St. Maarten videos all of the internet on random non-aviation sites with captions like "omg crazy pilot nearly hits bystanders" and so forth. Like Ian said, to the uninitiated it makes for a good spectacle. winkyy.gif

Edit - By the way congrats on your SPMEIR Trav. smile.gif

It is if you closely it also nearly takes out the boundary fence and nearly undershoots the runway.

Yup it's actually older than that. Do a search on You Tube for St Maarten and you will see numerous inbounds like that also see people on the beach ignoring the signs that say don't stand here, severe jet wash etc.

My fav is a klm 747 taxing and then lining up, everyone runs to the fence and waits. the pilots push the throttles to n1 and let the bird spool up before releasing the brakes. Mean time the crowd is getting pelted with sand and debris, screaming and cussing on why no one told them not to stand there, with the sign clearly in site. the road even closes on each take off to stop the cars getting blown off the road.

Shame on you herald, go do some real journalism for a change.

Yer St Maarten is old news, but pretty cool.
I would like to go to St Maarten some day thumbup1.gif
The Herald is pretty shameful really, one third of what they report isn't true, a third is outdated and the last third is actually opinion wrapped up as fact. dry.gif
