Quality controllers?

Does anyone know of a good quality controller (playstation like controllers) for PCs? I recently bought one off trademe and was told it was top quality...very dissapointed with it, the D pad buttons don't work, the cord was made out of a hard no flexible plastic, so when it bends it splits exposing the cords inside, just goes to show there's still some crooks out there willing to lie to someone to make a quick $20. The buttons are all messed up on Rugby 08 for PC too, can't use the D pad or anologe stick at the same time (I was told it may be a cheap Chinese import, so the chip inside it might not be good enough to use both at the same time).

One of the controller's I'm looking at is the Logitech one that works both on PS3 and PC

The only problem with something logitech I've had was the speakers (which I eventually got going) I bought not too long ago. The other controller I was looking at was one of the Xbox 360 controllers compatible with the PC, although they're pretty pricey for a brand new one. Before I go ahead and buy another controller off trademe, I'm going to go in to town and have a look around for one. Does anyone know if the gamesman, harvey normans etc has any specials on controllers at the moment? Or does anyone else who uses them, have any suggestions for a good quality one?

I have a USB adapter which I bought on Trademe for $20 about 6 months ago which allows you to connect an actual PS controller to your PC. Worked really well with GTA San Andreas, but I haven't used it for ages. I could sell it to you for $10 plus postage if you want? I never use it.

We picked up a twin pack of '3rd Earth' controllers for PS2 from EB Games recently (~$60-$70?), the pack also had two PS2 Controller=>USB converters (overtly for use with a PS3), and the manual said that it could be used with a PC. Haven't tried it, but sounds promising.

Hmm..those converters don't work too well on my computer, I bought one a while ago to use with a PS2 wheel, didnt work, tried it with a regular controller and it worked....but not all the buttons would be recognized.
