Air Pacific 747 in on Heavy Maintenance?

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

I've heard that DQ-FJL is having a D-check and will still be in the hangar when my family and I are due to fly back from NAN on it in about a month. Apparently it's being replaced by a United Airlines 747. Is this true? If it is, are the United 744s better equipped in terms of IFE etc?

Na to be honest I'm not too bothered, I have an Ipod and it's only ~3 hours anyway. Just curious. Air Pacific's is perfectly ok for a short hop like that. Much better that the drop-down screens on the 737-700 we'll have on the way up laugh.gif

Yeah, thats true- Would suck for long hauls aka SYD-LAX!

Hmm, Air Pacific was pretty bad when we flew on the 737, the seats are small!

Yeah, I guess they're not renowned for fantastic aircraft interiors, but the service is generally good and as I said most of their flights are short biggrin.gif
Still better than being stuck on an ANZ 733 from NAN-AKL like one of my friends a few years ago!

A mate recently flew to Fiji for 3 days to go to some Vodafone Conference he flew out on an Air Pacific 747 and when I asked what he came back on he said a 737 I couldn't help but crack up laughing considering when I went to AUS on the 737 it was bad enough but coming back on the A330 was far better IMHO although the air hostesses weren't as tasty hehehe.

I'll just go find another dark corner to hide in lol.
