Agree with what the others are saying here. If you're gonna get a Q400, you're not that far off jet territory in terms of seats, and by the sounds, fuel consumption too.

Well they have roughly the same number of seats as an ATR 72- about half the seats of a 737-300.

Depends what jet you are comparing it to - Embaer ER-170/175 is a similar size to a Q400 - still think there is a pretty reasonable savings in fuel consumption over a jet with a Q400.
