Half way through his take off, the pilot realized that the huge -and probably overloaded- IL-18 won't make it.... (It was very lucky this time)

He was lucky he over-ran into soft sand - slowed him down nicely .... AND put the fire out!

bet the guy with camera filled his pants when he realized that the shot wasn't zoomed in any more and he was standing by the plane as it stopped beside him.

Ya blocked the runway, blew out the tires, bent the front gear, cargos now late, cant collect the connecting cargo - late too, planes got to be re certified - cant make it's runs for at least a month or two.

talk about a cork up

Did that green fire track that turned up at the end get bogged as well ? It seemed to be making an awful lot of noise but not getting anywhere near the plane laugh.gif

Nice one

This one seems to be doing the rounds at the moment - pretty amazing video. Wonder what the co-pilot was thinking at the end? Probably checking whether the rest of the plane was still attached. laugh.gif At least they stopped - seems to be an all too common theme in Africa that when this sort of thing happens they end up in the houses/market place/assorted other congested areas at the end of the runway.
