You can get the 400D for cheaper than that, and its just an all round better camera. Only downside would be 400D doesnt do SD cards.

If the camera doesn't use SD cards it puts me off. Why didn't you like the 1000d?
Anyway I will see what the best deal. Though I will look in Sydney, Bangkok and Singapore and any good deals I might buy. (I'm in Singapore on my Birthday 24th January).

Anyway I can't go too costly as I have to save up for a School Europe trip and then a PPL after that. So I don't want to spend over $1500max. The Canon 1000d looks better as it has a better twin lens kit and its $1300. (18-55 and 70-300 both EF etc.)

Ideally I would really like a D60 with 18-55 and 70-300 but the 70-300VR's cost around $800

Also what is the Sony A200 like:

good looking deal with two good lenses.

For Cheap versus Quality mate Id have to say the Sony A200. Its great value, has the IS built in too.

Good lucking finding one in Sydney and Bangkok. I think you will have the best bet in Singapore but make sure they dont rip you off (Stores dont put price tags on items, and if your a foreigner, they just jack the price up)

I'll take that into account. I'm not overly sure on the Sony though.
Still mainly thinking about the Canon. Anyway, I'll see when it comes to 2009.

Dunno I was looking at that but I prefer new (especially with electronics...)

Anyway what was your issue with the Canon?

Also someone I know said that Nikon's are better for action photography

I have no issues with Canon its self, im just telling you the 1000D is cr@p, read the reviews yourself......

There is no proof Nikon is better for action either.

I'm now teetering towards the Nikon D60 (I know I change my mind). Anyway why didn't you like the 1000d?
