My Traffic X

A forum specifically to discuss the latest and greatest of all flight simulators

Hi bought My Traffic X from Aerosoft a month ago as I was gearing up for FSX, it also works on fs9. I feel duped, the package contains what I can only describe as an unrealistic flight plan, for example currently at Wellington there are about 32 Air New Zealand DASH 8s in the gates no 737's no Qantas, and 4 Chathams Air CV560's that werent even chatham air liveries. There are holes in popular modles (no JetStreams at all) and the support for the package is dismal if non existant, it also seems to replace your AFCADS with crappy ones. I recomend to anyone here not to buy this peice of cr@p BUT for those unfortunates that did what did you do about it? What is the best package out there for FSX, and does anyone want to buy a crappy frisbee

Yes I have to say I've had the misfortune of installing the nightmare that is MyTrafficX as well, most of the models look like they came from FS98... I realise that AI aircraft are generally in low detail, but there are plenty of nice AI models out there that have little if any impact on frame rates. Not to mention the ridiculous paintschemes on GA aircraft, ok so it looks colourful but honestly how many neon green and pink 172s are out there in real life? Although they've evidently tried to populate the airports with aircraft you might see there in real life, I've seen some ridiculous things, like about 15 Air Freight Convairs parked at Wellington, or a squadron of RAF Harriers based at some remote desert airfield in northern Africa... Also the default Beaver floatplane attempting to use land runways. <_< Not to mention the AFCADs as you say which in many cases have been expanded without any attempt to exclude the surrounding autogen - nothing worse than an apron covered in trees. :( I've still got it installed at the moment, as it appears to me that it doesn't come with an uninstall program (words fail!) so I guess it may require a complete reinstall to sort it.

I believe Ultimate Traffic is much better. I haven't looked into it much but I think the base file is for FS9, and then there is an update which makes it fully compatible with FSX.

Oh dear thanks for the HU - I am very happy with my freeware PAI/VOZ/GNZLAP/RNZAF/Squirel/Ultimate GA AI mix. I believe the freeware World of AI is also very good as well. Do any of these AI programes work in FSX?

I used to have my own freeware traffic in FS9, and it was great, but I just can't muster the effort to rebuild it all for FSX.

Right, I took the time to take a few screenshots to prove that we're not making this up. :P Here they are for your viewing... pleasure?

Here I am in Bouake in Cote d'Ivoire in my lovely Avia S-199. Also parked here as you can see are a generic Beech Airliner and a US Marines Harrier. Right.

At Khudzhand in Tajikistan we see a problem which affects all non float equipped Cessna 206s apparently. The Navajo behind it doesn't look much airworthier.

Faleolo, Samoa, which is strictly a GA airfield courtesy of the new AFCAD, is home to a default Piper Cub and one of the more extreme examples of a repaint that appears to have been made with the "invert colours" tool. There was also the Beech last seen in Ivory Coast parked just behind me.

Closer to home, at Tauranga we see another hideous 172, the default King Air, a Dash 8 wearing Vincent colours which would be nice if the paintscheme wasn't reversed and the props permanently in motion. Oh, and he's parked himself through the fuel pump. Also a token Air Nelson Dash 8 which is probably the pick of the bunch.

Finally at Queenstown we have a black and yellow 172, 2 rather unfortunate looking Air Freight CV580s, with one more just off screen (and about 30 more at Wellington just for your info <_< ) and an Origin Pacific Jetstream which looks suspiciously like the extremely outdated PAI model and still manages to be the nicest looking of this lot.

I rest my case. If this post sounded a little unpleasant, I assure you it was completely intentional. :)

Yup i have to side with ALL of you on this one, PMDG threw this in for free for me when i orded the 747, i was stoked!!! but once i installed it.... :swear: "OH MY GOD!!!!!" worst addon ever, so mate i do feel sorry for you that you had to pay for this sorry excuse of cr@p, i got mine free but the best possible option for this now is to use it as clay shooting practice, as with the free ware traffic, i would love to know how to add them but when i ask, nerds take over my topic and start a new ONE :arrr: , so as for now im happy with VOZ

Stress no more!
Quickly nip over to Sim Outhouse and copy this entire thread for reference, and cut yourself free from ugly AI!
It's a whole sub-culture of FS but if done properly is very rewarding.

Yeah I won it as part of a screen shot comp...I installed it on the work machine and decided it was junk: The models are junk, the Afcads are junk (It looked like moses was in town at the Rotorua lake front- Massive water runway which was about 50m too low and caused a water vally).....and then I went to Uninstall it!!!.......and couldnt.

Total and utter POS.

The ONLY way you'll get perfection in AI traffic and scheduling is if you roll your own. This is an awful lot of work (I'm sure the GNZLAP guys will agree). And at the end of the day you'll only be slagged off by someone else who has a different view of perfection.

I quite like the freeware GATraffic. It generates pseudo random flights for GA, including circuits, but it's very configurable, and can be set to use whatever GA aircraft you have installed. It will assign callsigns appropriate to whatever country you're in.

I do have MyTrafficX, and it works fine for my needs, but then I'm not a perfectionist: I just like to see other traffic on the ramp. I wouldn't know one tube from another anyhow, and neither would I care. They look fine to me. BTW, I bought it direct from Simmarket, rather than through Aerosoft, and the support is excellent, with a very active forum. In common with other developers that also sell through a distributor, the direct support forum only supports the direct sales (ie the distributor supports stuff the distributor sells) Similarly the direct download guys qet the updates & new models sooner than the distributor version.

GA traffic I do care about, and for that i use GATraffic, as I mentioned above.

WTH perfectionist is one thing but when it puts 60 odd Dash 8's at Wellington and NO 737's AND screws up the afcad so the parking is out and all ramps are small parking then you have to stop blaming perfectionists and go back to the idea that if your going to charge someone for an addon you better damned well make a half decent job of it.

AT $80 YOU BETTER BELIEVE I EXPECT PERFECTION MAN this package dosent even give you freeware quality

If you look at the first, blue, 172 you can see that the wheels aren't the right colour either. :(

OK so get this, I uninstall this piece of cr@p using my windows programs area GUYS I REPEAT DO NOT PAY GOOD MONEY FOR THIS S-H-1-T it is the ripoff of ages.

In FS9 it does not get rid of the crappy traffic BUT it does remove all of your scenery from the scenery library???????

so far in FSX I dont see an issue but I am not holding my breath READ ME GUYS THIS ONE AINT EVEN WORTH ILLEGALLY PIRATING its that bad.

I've since started using World of AI, which while it currently doesn't have quite such a big variety of aircraft, nevertheless has enough to populate most of the world pretty heavily (and there are new airlines being added almost daily), the aircraft look so much vastly better than the MyTraffic ones it's not funny, and of course most importantly it's all free. smile.gif
