I think it will be! biggrin.gif

BTW, you can buy it here: REX, but beware, it's 4GB download, and requires 9GB of free space. You can get the DVD option though for a bit extra.

THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA!

Announcing Real Environment Xtremeâ„¢! A first of its kind product... a complete photo-realistic, hi-definition professional graphics package for Microsoft's Flight Simulator series created entirely from state-of-the-art photography. INCLUDES our NEW built-in Weather Engine and Flight Planner! The texture sets within Real Environment Xtremeâ„¢ coupled with the powerful NEW Weather Engine and Flight Planner provides for an exhilarating and realistic experience. REX is a technologically & artistically advanced, hi-definition texture utility for the simulator pilot who requires a more advanced feature set. THE BULK OF THE CONTENT has been produced from extremely hi-resolution film photography, NOT digital, with the upmost artistic attention to detail. Also new realistic type of wave and reflection included in many variations for shader 1x and shader 2x INCLUDING DX10 Compatible)
* Airport environments (photo-real asphalt & concrete runway textures, new runway and ground bump-mapping, asphalt taxiways, concrete taxiways, realistic taxiway markings, airport signage, airport parking and general photorealistic airport ground scenery)
* Multiple variations of sun, lens flare & brand NEW lightning bolt algorithms, which creates a visually stunning array of lightning situations
* Fully integrated to select Sky, Cloud, Water, Airport, and Effect Themes based upon weather situation, season, and other synoptic, meso-scale, and micro weather conditions
* Enhanced Cloud Simulation to give a more 3D volumetric feel to cloud structures and the atmosphere
* Lighting environments (runway lighting including simulated ground glow, stunningly realistic aircraft spotlights with variations for small to large aircraft, aircraft strobe lights, variations for add-on aircraft as well)

Glad you mentioned the Herald. Great story [not!] today about the Internet being down for 8 hours last night. "Telecom state that the problem *may have been caused* by a power failure". You mean that after 8 hours *they DON'T KNOW?*. Shoddy reporting (ie. Get THE FACTS please) and shoddy Telecom ... for being so inept.

So ... back on topic ... REX hasn't been let out of his kennel yet?

The post above has this:

So I would guess that 461KB is the download tool, which will then grab the other 4GB.

Oh....so sorry, I thought it had been released because it didn't have the 'Unreleased' in the title.

Just noticed the "Release Imminent!" tag now.

The last minute hangup was caused by an unforeseen issue, 'God's Hand' at work there, nothing can be done about that. I know what you are saying Dave but an addon like this at this size has to be perfect, we do not want to waste people's bandwidth and then say 'whooops guess what, you have to download it again' ya know what I mean?[/quote]

Has anyone got this yet? I'm anxious to see how it stacks up against Active Sky / X-Graphics.

I was going to use my voucher from my screencomp win (YAY!!!!!) for ASX (I was going to buy X-Graphics) ... but I'm in two minds. The other HiFi offering is PAX. The way I fly, my passengers will be screaming/puking all over the place, so my PAX rating will stay in the negative!!!

What should I do, folks?
