December Screenshot Competition

This month Flight1 are sponsoring our screenshot competition. This means that the person who wins with the best screenshot this month will receive any one Flight1 product (in the Flight1 Wrapper) free of charge! These products can be viewed at www.flight1.com... Now that's an incentive for you all to enter!

This is the 31st monthly screenshot competition, which is free to enter for all the members of NZFF.

This month's rules are as follows:

1) The screenshot must be from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX, X-Plane, etc), and the position of the shot must be somewhere over New Zealand territory.

2) The image size must be as close as possible to 984 pixels wide- read the uploading screenshot guide to find out how to re-size your shot. Please keep a high resolution version saved on your computer; the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!

3) Also remember, try and make your shot suitable for a thin rectangular banner. Think about that when positioning your aircraft and choosing camera angles etc. (and please don't include any text on the image either)

4) Images can be submitted from December 1st 2008 to December 31st 2008, with only one entry per member. You can change your submission before the closing date if you want, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one (by using the edit button at the bottom of your post. Please don't post saying you have edited your original entry, as this creates unnecessary clutter).

5) On December 31st, a poll will open and run for a few days to decide who has the best image, then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the Flight1 prize!

6) Editing is allowed, if you know how to do it. The more stunning your shots look the better!

7) This month's theme is 'New Zealand Aviation History', get the camera out and take shots of TEAL, Union Airways, NAC and all the other pioneering airlines that operated in New Zealand.

The end of NAC
After 1975 Air New Zealand, the Ministry of Transport and the National government pushed for a merger. Though this was strongly resisted by NAC, the government announced in December 1977 that the two airlines would amalgamate in 1978. Accordingly, on 1 April NAC ceased to exist as a separate airline. For the next 11 years Air New Zealand was the state-owned carrier on both domestic and international routes.

All three liveries.
National Air Corporation's final then the Hybrid with Air New Zealand then the final Air New Zealand. If I do member correctly there would have been a small gap in time when these three liveries operated.

Couldn't find a Foxmoth or a Rapide (or maybe a DC-6) with a decent NZ scheme..but it is a good excuse to finally download Rick Piper's Argosy.

The "Whistling Wheelbarrow" - Safe Air's last aircraft (now solely an aircraft engineering firm) and one of the last operators of the HS Argosy. The Argosys finally retired in 1990 after 17 years service. Approaching Wellington @ sunset........

Great idea for this month's comp. Nothing like a bit of nostalgia every now & then. My one reminds me of when I was living in Mosgiel and I would see these -200's fly past our house on descent to Dunedin Intl.
