2009 Airshows

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby ardypilot » Sun Jan 11, 2009 2:50 pm

In the spirit of NZFF member meetups that have taken place over the last two and a half years at various airshows around the country- I thought I better start a topic for the 2009 season.

We have:

Wings over Wairarapa
When: 17th & 18th January 2009
Where: Hood Aerodrome, Masterton
Website: http://www.wings.org.nz/ and this thread which I've started earlier.

Vintage Voyage
When: February 6th & 8th 2009
Where: Gisborne
Website: http://www.vintagevoyage.co.nz

RNZAF Open Day Airshow
When: March 21st 2009
Where: Whenuapai Air Base, Auckland
Website: http://www.airforce.mil.nz/operations/what...ays/default.htm (no information yet)

Classic Fighters Omaka
When: April 11th & 12th 2009
Where: Omaka Aerodrome, Blenhiem
Website: http://www.classicfighters.co.nz

So, who plan's to attend what? I'm hoping to be at both Whenuapai and Omaka... biggrin.gif

I'll flick you a message Andrew if I can make it to Omaka. I'll be home in Nelson for Easter weekend and might be able to convince my Dad to drive us over.

I'll hopefully be at Omaka. I'll probably be with mates though so we'll just keep to ourselves rather than meeting up.

Definitely Whenuapai for me. Waiarapa would be nice ... but not sure whether the slush fund will stretch that far sad.gif

On the Calender is the last airshow at Wigram this February ... I have a few choice words for the the idiots destroying the NZ Aviation heritage , 90 years gone !

Quote I have returned with my children to visit the Wigram Airforce Museum and recommended many people to make it a point on their tourist itinerary. The loss of the Air show will have detrimental effect on the tourist income from it.

Bloody stinks , One day only .. then a tribe cuts it up .......... should have been donated and kept as a Aviation Park !

Will I was going to try and make the Wairarapa show but economics and time have dictated otherwise - I will try and make the Whenuapai one though.

I'll be at Omaka. Seems to be quite a few people going, wouldn't mind a meetup as suggested before.
