Don';t forget Gene de Marco is also Corsair rated winkyy.gif

Great, ZK-WDQ, star of the show, has belly-landed apparently. Feck. That sucks.

Yep I heard about that. Stuff has a story about it. Also look at this thread on NZFF.

Shame about that. I won't be going to the show though (although I was pretty close - just came back from Wellington today).

Okay, so, with ONE DAY TO GO!, who's going when?

K5054NZ and gf - Sat
Ace - both
MarkII - ?
cambridgedan - both
Squawk1200 - Sat?
Bestpilotindaworld - Sat?
flightnse - ?
spongebob206 - hopefully Sun
cooldad - Sat....and Mustang flight today!

Who else?

And where/when to meet up? I'll be in my NZFF tee with a gorgeous brunette on my arm, so I won;t be hard to miss tongue.gif. The programme (http://www.wings.org.nz/programme.shtml) says 1230hr is lunch, so that may be a good time? Otherwise, if you see an NZFF tee, don't hesitate! Make yourself known! tongue.gif

Add gojozoom to the list. All day Saturday.
I was wondering about two things:

1.) Where to meet? remember, it will b a huge crowd there...
2.) Have you seen the forecastrecently? It doesn't look good... Have a look at the 2. and 3. row...

Add me to that list for sat. I'll be making the annual pilgrimage down with my dad. It's become a regular event for us. I'll either be wearing my black Wanaka Alpine Fighters collection cap or a black NZ Cricket full-size hat, it depends on how sunny it is.If we're walking, we'll each be carrying a fold-up deckchair in a blue bag. If we're sitting, we'll be sitting in blue fold-up deck chairs that came in blue bags smile.gif

Here's the short forecast from Metservice:

Short forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Saturday 17-Jan-2009
Issued by MetService at 07:14pm 16-Jan-2009
Gisborne to Wairarapa Fine and warm.

Weather should be good tomorrow but at a projected 31 degrees heat have will make photography difficult.
I will be flying up both days and have loads of ground based photos to take for furutre stories and several pilots to catch up with regarding future flights this year but look forward to perhaps catching up with some of you guys.

Weather for Sunday does not look too flash but hopefully it is ok and the wind is light.

I did catch up with a P40 on its way to Masterton so will try and post a pic soon, we had a blast. cool.gif

THe TV3 News site (not renowned for accuracy) has an item on John Pattison - WWII BOB pilot being taken up in a P-40 ...

P-40 Flight

Isn't the P-40 a single-seat aircraft? Did they stuff the poor blighter behind the seat?

Alot of WWII fighters actually had radio equipment behind the pilot. In the modern years the big bulky radios aren't needed, so they take that out and put in an extra seat instead.
It is certainly a squeeze getting into the P-40, and the veteran certainly had some assistance to get into the back, but he did it, and had a huge smile on his face.

Actually, a huge smile... now who does that remind me of?

I spotted Paul (cooldad) in the back of the Mustang on the takeoff run, I believe there was an ear-to-ear grin and a huge thumbs up from the back seat. Bet it was a blast!

Hehe ... must have been an amazing experience for both of them!!! And good to honour an old warrior like that.

Highlight for me was Doug Brooker's display in the MX2.....almost seemed as if he was going extra hard out, in an attempt to make up for the spit incident...

Lowlight? What idiot decided to get Jim Hickey to do the commentary? I couldn't care less if he can fly, and is rated in a Yak-52, the guy is a total tool!
