Offshore Heli Addicts

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby CoochB » Fri Feb 20, 2009 3:13 pm

For keen offshore heli simmers, I recently stumbled onto a selection of oil rigs and other objects placed in the North Sea and around the Gulf of Mexico (FS 2004 and FSX). The ones in the North Sea are very sophisticated and include ADFs and occasionally DMEs. More importantly they contain 3 or 4 digit identifiers you can enter into the GPS in order to find them as some are nearly 100 NM out to sea. Here is the list I have found including the Major Airport ID closest.

North Sea

Name- Ident- Helibase- NDB- DME
Gullfaks- GFC- ENBR - 333.00- 113.65
Troll A- TRL- ENBR- N/A- 116.00
Osberg A- OBA- ENBR - 353.00-
Sleipner A- SPA- EGPD- 349.00- 115.50
ULA- ULA- EGPD- 380.00-
TOR- TR - EGPD- 375.00-
Donna- DON- EGPH- 355.00-
Heidrun- HEI- ENVA- 340.00- 115.05
Njord- NJD- ENVA- 310.00-
Snorre- SNR- ENBR- 375.00-
Stratfjord B- LF6M- ENBR- 615.00-

Gulf of Mexico

Visual only near Airports 72TA, KMOB or 4RG and finally KNGP

Not round N.Z. I know, but untill I get my object placement tool up and running the best I can do

Helps if your Helicopter has an autopilot in the North Sea. Hand flying for 1 1/4 hours, now thats hard core!

Can any one add to this list?

Have just downloaded, looks good. Born on the South Coast of the South Island I remember a school trip where we stood roughly at the northern tip of where the Great South Basin daylights looking south and speculating about oil being found there.

I have also found this in the scenery a few days ago, 5 rigs and the onshore plant for the Maui field; flightsim.com maui2004.zip

Where did you get the Skycrane and Chinook? They look good also
