Weather add-on

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Hi there,

I know that there is a couple of good weather add-ons out there for fs2004, but I still couldn't find one, where overcast would obscure views of the ground from aloft. For example, if I take off in a storm the sky "clears up" above 7000 feet and you can see the ground perfectly... There should be fog and clouds and stuff like that, it ruins the whole IFR experience. The problem with the existing add-ons is that even if they create beautiful textures and light effects, they only enhance what MSFS creates instead of creating their own weather. I don't really care about the spectacular textures (I would, but my PC doesnt allow it...), the priority for me is to have that effect I explained above.

Do you know a working solution for it?

hi you could try active sky advanced, it seems to work well for me, it creates it's own weather and uses the fs textures (or what ever you have installed). i will do some simming and let you know if the overcast stays overcast

In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

i have had a look,m did a quick flight, used real world weather where there was thunderstorms, cirrus and an overcast layer at 9000', problem was i could still see the ground in patches through the clouds, i have flown in overcast conditions before this and you cannot see anything below you except clouds.,

hope this helps a little
