I'd knock your power supply up 600watts , for XP 3 gig ram , and go for a Geforce 758mg card , i think you would get disappointed with the 512

hmm FSX is much more CPU dependant...which may make it hard to upgrade. So I would suggest getting only a moderately powerful Gfx card and saving for a new CPU and motherboard etc

Timmo is right in saying that your CPU is a problem. However, unless you are going to spend a bit more money than you are probably budgeting for, its not really worth it. (You would want about $500 atleast)

Again, like Timmo said, you should probably upgrade your video card to something a little better, but you really want to save some $$$ to get your cpu upgraded, which is where you will see better fps gains.

This will be a nice cheap upgrade for you. Its a little more powerful than your x300, and should work fine with your power suuply.

Is this suited to FSX?

What are the best cards for FSX?

the best card for FSX would obviously be the nvidia geforce GTX 295, priced at $1000.

From the information i have gathered, you are trying to keep the upgrade to a budget. I think you will find that since your CPU power is lacking, and because of the fact that FSX is heavily CPU dependent, a big video card upgrade would yield very small improvements in FPS.

Ideally, to run a much better video card, you will need a better CPU. This will need a new motherboard, which would then require new ram. You will then need a new power supply to run these.

That trademe one is a fairly good price, considering its the silent version and a 512mb (this will help with FSX) version. You must be aware that with any silent components, there must be sufficient air flow inside the computer case to blow over the heatsink.
-----
In other words:this card should be a decent low budget upgrade, and should give you an fps increase in heavily graphic dependent situations of fsx. Unless you want to start upgrading other components of your system, as noted above, this would be a good choice

Hope this helps
