There were a lot of inaccuracies in the report. I own an identical model, and they were quoting that it was made of metal, and that it flew up to 200kmph.
I can assure you that both are incorrect, although what little metal parts it does have, could probably do some damage to the fans.

I think it was stupid, irresponsible, and illegal, but at the end of the day it truly doesn't look like the rc pilot was intentionally trying to fly into the jet, or had even a chance of hitting it. Although you'd have to question the intelligence of the person, a $500 model isn't cheap, and surely most people know at least something about wake turbulence?

A great video though, especially with the Top Gun dialogue.

And out of curiosity, does anyone actually know of any incidents where a model plane has struck a real aircraft?

Dead right Ian. Australia seems to have a problem with this kind of 'flight path vandalism' and immature idiots toying with hundreds of lives at a time.

Thats right! Maybe we could call it an educational video teaching us what effects wake turbulence can have on small aircraft.
