Oh - I was there but didnt see that! Very lucky it would appear - saw the rescue appliance that went out but thought it might of been an exercise.

Oh Dear Oh Dear Oh Dear!

Not good at all... Bet the landing gear arrangement would have come in handy.

It's actually not scratched anymore it's got all new panels etc just waiting on a vouple of new parts to arrive and I'll have it back biggrin.gif
Which should be next week with any luck. It's been away for 9 weeks now so if I
Get it next week that will be ten weeks sad.gif

That's unfortunate. Looks to be -KGB possibly? Those things are built pretty tough, probably will see it back in the air before too long.

When I was in Tauranga a couple of weeks ago I also noticed that Piper Lance that landed gear up at Pauanui Beach a while ago is parked up with some fairly spectacular damage to the prop.

Ummm, there were about a zillion guys there with Canon cameras with long lenses. All looked quite nerdy to be honest, but I didn't see you Dan ... you'd be cool looking as all bikers are smile.gif

The display was ok but not outstanding I thought, mind you I only could get to the early one, the later one sounded like it would have more action. Beautiful weather for it and nice to get out on the bike, with my son, who is also named Dan!

I was also there, spotting guys with Canons all over the place.

Would rate the show about 6/10, however I think I'm getting a bit over-exposed to it all, too many shows over too many years. There
was plenty there to show the grandson in the static displays of militaria. There was no way I could warrant spening $50 on the raffle
for a Mustang flight, however as the owner of my money was there beside me....

Dan is a cool name biggrin.gif
I think the sadest thing was I saw a news paper photographer there who had a bigger lense than me sad.gif haha he must have a bigger budget than me.

I noticed a few nice bikes parked there today. smile.gif
We should get together one fine sunday afternoon and go for a ride, wen i get my bike back that is thumbup1.gif

hi guys,
front page mondays BoP Times has story, no doubt more info when CAA finish report. but for now..
** Pilot did amazing job, low level when it happened and selected best place considering, did amazing job preserving both himself and the aircraft considering the time location etc. was very impressed with minimal apparent damage to both. no injuries, no fire, some damage sure and the landing gear did help I'm sure, certainly could easily have been far worse.
