Its quite impressive to see and compare the two between the earlier model ,the super, almost as different when they pitted the F18 against a Mirage many years ago .. that twenty year gap !

Yeah although the F is a bit slower it has a greater range, can carry alot more and with Aesa radar the pilot and WSO can engage air and ground tgts at the same time.

Speed in furballs is not what you need , in the cold war period QRA s to get as close to the enermy and as far from his target to shoot him , guess its like the idea of building fighters without a gun
