Welcoming members to a floatplane daytrip online

Share your simulated flights around NZ here. The place to post your flight reports, flight plan instructions and progress on tours

Postby kiwibarguy » Wed Jul 08, 2009 3:31 pm

My good friend Daniel (Gojozoom) e-mailed me to see if i would like to join him for another flight together. So i thought it would be great again to open up this online opportunity to come fly with us as we head up the South Island in float planes. If you would like to join us please let us know here on this blog. I am planning this for next Tuesday or Wednesday around 7:30-8pm on the 14th or 15th of July. So dig out any ol' plane with floats, whether it be an Sc.30 Empire, Super Otter or even a slow riding Beaver. Come along and join in for some team time! It's all casual, so it's great for new comers and the nzff old skoolers!

Let's see how many we can get up in the air! Let me know what date suits you all! Friday and Sundays are usually put aside for other online aviation activities!

2009 Mid Winter Floatplane Excursion

Te Anau-Lake Manapouri

Our starting point for the journey, a great place for floatplane donuts and engine reving!

Queenstown- Lake Wakatipu

We will drop into Queenstown so the tourists can take all their photos and we can complain at the price of the cafes.

Wanaka-Lake Wanaka

Just a short flight to beautiful Lake Wanaka.

Lake Tekapo-Lake Tekapo

Finally finishing off at Lake Tekapo for dinner.

I will be setting my season as Winter and my time as 12pm Lunchtime. I will also have my real weather setting on just to give it a touch of who knows what may happen.

Thanks guys, feel free to contact me! Both FS9 and FSX'ers will be present.

Wow Paul,

Thanks for publishing the idea in your usual high quality standard with photographs and detailed trip description.
Any date is fine for me, so I make it up to you guys.

A suggestion for all before this flight : Make yourselves comfortable with using the SLEW mode, as those lakes don't have water bases in default, so we have to place the aircrafts there manually.

I'll fly the Lake Renegade T270.

See you in the water,
gojozoom

PS.: It we'll be funny to see those floating Cessna 172's everywhere smile.gif

FS9 users might get lucky then ..... at least with Lake Te Anau. Have been working (on and off) modelling the Wings & Water FBO. It's more than half finished, then I will just need to place it, create an AFCAD and ........ voila!

oooooh friday night, TFK or FSX, now that is a tough one! OK if you are both fine with that then we will make it 8pm, i will go on around 7:45pm just to make sure all my bits and pieces are working (eew eer sounds a bit rude).

Just a reminder that this is online flying at its noobiest, no tower or flight plans as such, just a get together, flying togther, using teamspeak if you wish.If not then that is fine too. Your presence will be more than enough.

Friday 10th July 09 8pm on our server and TeamSpeak if so desired

Hey great news Ian! What did you get yourself? I am at work at the moment so im not sure what the ip address we are using till i get home. Dan do you know?

yeah, i got a GT9800 recently and i love it, especially on farcry2 which is in my opinion an awesome example of a well made game engine that delivers awesome graphics without the strain. A great game once you get to the second map.

I am looking forward to having a fun night!

I do. I have my two favourites : Japanese plum wine (Choya) with ice and soda, and the nice Australian Fruitwood. I had Riverstone Kiwi Fruit wine yesterday, and that was fantastic, too.

It'll be a yummy evening smile.gif
