Chatham Island Airport

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Michael » Sat Jun 06, 2009 11:17 pm

I've been looking around for a Air Chatham Airport Scenery (needs to work with FSX)

I've found a couple of links here but they're avsim (poor avsim) links. So no real help.

If someone has could they upload it somewhere or point me in the right direction. smile.gif

Hi Michael.

The Avsim linked NZCI scenery was for FS9.
I havnt bothered uploading it anywhere else at this stage since the demise of Avsim.
I have no idea if it will work in FSX or not sorry.
Nor do i know of an FSX specific scenery for NZCI.

Hey there,

I have Lawrie's excelent Chatham Islands scenery running on FSX. I just moved the folder to the addon scenery folder of FSX. Enabled it. And it works fine! biggrin.gif

Not sure if its missing some stuff, probably, but its way better than the shocking FSX default. I've enjoyed quite a few VATSIM flighs as an Air Chatham CV580 to NZCH!

Not sure where you can find it atm though unsure.gif

Well,........ not ALL of my work,........... i think maybe about HALF of what ive ever done is on the OZSimDev site. ( and on Simviation.com)
Some of it is also appearing on Flightsim.com.
Most of the early sceneries of mine that were on Avsim, i havnt re-uploaded anywhere at this stage.
Some of them i would like to actually do rebuilds of them, to vastly improve improve them,.......... knowing what i know now about scenery building.

I have since started my own website for FS,.......... here.......... http://snowman.ozsimdev.com.au/

At this point, my old Chathams scenery hasnt been uploaded anywhere since the demise of Avsim.
I was actually thinking of doing a complete rebuild of it. and then uploading the new one.

Had some spare time come my way unexpectadly yesterday, so ive started a complete rebuild of my Chatham Islands Scenery.
It is a huge improvement over my old one. For those wanting it to work in FSX,........ im sure Bob ( redda03 here on NZFF) will get it working for FSX.
He's had big sucesses converting a large number of my FS9 sceneries to work in FSX............

I'll upload the scenery to my website as soon as its finished.............

what we need is one of our talented scenery designers to have a crack at a photoreal Chatham Islands with the right landclass as the default is NO-WHERE near even close to the real islands.,..other than its location :-( . I'd pay good money for a good replacment for the default chathams scenery !. If it wasnt for Lawries nice NZCI airport scenery I probably wouldnt even fly there at all...

Chatham Islands will be part of the FSX Topo Landclass package....and the good news is, the Chathams will be a FREE download. It doesn't really showcase the power of the changes to mainland NZ but does feature the same landclass generation and a custom 15m mesh, water class

There is only really one airport building isn't there? Im sure I could spend 5 minutes to put something resembling that in there too.

I have a couple of pictures of the "terminal" from last year if you are interested. There are about three main buildings from what I can remember.
