first up, what sim are you running, and do you have this problem on all aircraft or just some, also do you have any add on environment or light packages??

Jason
In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

ok, are they fs9 aircraft, or fsx a/c, if fs9 make sure that the effects for each aircraft have been copied to the fsx effects folder

hmm intresting, i would be inclinded to have a lok at the effects folder and check to see that the effect is there that the aircraft .cfg file is referenced too, let me know i could have a look at the offending cfg files and see if i can spot anything
