Well Guys I pick up my new Laptop in a couple of weeks it is pretty much the same as the one I quoted except it now has 4 gig ram, what I would like to know from you so wise men is, can I & should I partition the H/D & make both partitions bootable with one running only FS9 or FSX with nothing else? or I think there is a program that will shut every thing else down & only run the flight sim, I do hope I am making sense to you people.
Any advise will be much appreciated as I said earlier I have both FS9 & FSX I enjoy both of them.

Cheers & Beers kiwiray.

Hi Kiwiray I think it will be struggling to run FSX.
As for FS9 it will run it ok but I would say it is on the lower scale for optimum performance.

I dont know of any laptops that will run FSX really well on high settings, better go for a desktop for that one. Saves overheating too.

Anyway, even if there was a Laptop that ran FSX really well on high settings, it would probably be huge and therefore defeating the purpose of a laptop.

Thanks guys for the advice, I have both FS9 & FSX so will try them both when my laptop arrives, I have chosen a laptop over a desktop this time because of lack of room & every body else wanting to use my puter I am not a mean person but there are a couple of teenagers here with me & they download all sorts of cr@p & bugs, so no more my puter is for me only. LOL

Cheers kiwiray.

See how it goes and if FSX is a problem, consider running on external drive. I have a buddy who is doing that and FSX is running fine through the Laptop.

I personally dont see the point of another partition. If you keep your main partition clean and your background processes in order, you wouldnt need to do this. I think it would just be a bit more trouble than its worth, for the small (if any) performance gain.

running FSX on an external wouldnt increase performance.... maybe im missing what your saying but running on an external means passing it through USB which seriously damages its write/read speeds.

i have a laptop and a puter so i dont use partition much but i do like to keep a partition on my laptop hdd around 150gb for storing my movies/pictures so they can be easily accessed by family if needed....
