I've often wondered whether these protectors were a bit of a con ...Ian Warren wrote:QUOTE (Ian Warren @ Aug 26 2009, 12:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I was asking how you channeled or activated the cores independently to increase your frame rates , this has the shop stumped and the PC went to the supplier to be tested , all work fine till you run FSX . Around default scenery airports the frame rates drop to a hideous 2.0 FPS , meaning it is unusable !
I've seen quite a few posts, as I've Googled around looking for FSX tweaks, about some .cfg values that affect the way FSX uses quad core CPUs. I never really took notice as I only have a dual-core. I seem to remember some weird numerical values thast you needed to edit.

Thanks Nick , I posted Jason our 'Jastheace' and he sent me the same add to cfg![]()

Yeah Ian, thats it, there must be another entry as affinityMask to activate the Cores. Please try google. If time i will search too.
check this: http://www.highflightsimulations.com/fsxcfg.html
Edit the bufferpool section too to your cfgLast edited by HueyTeam on Fri Aug 28, 2009 7:32 am, edited 1 time in total.----------------------------------------------

2 FPS sounds more like you've added something that doesn't agree with FS, like a scenery config error? That's what I had the only time I've ever seen 2 FPS
Remember to give your FS hard drive a good defrag when you've installed it. That helps a lot.
Thanks Alister , think im now starting to fly out of the storm clouds now , defrag is a regular thing the happens here , i think the loosing off the primary PC's was the surprise , sorta like someone turning the lights off and ya running around behind trying to turn em back on and only to find your blowing all the bulbs in the process !![]()
Andy Ive followed Al's step and bookmarked , simply future reference , i had the link , but its good to have it posted

This PC was to be just a fix , the SLI mobo got fried , the cheaper higher performance was this option , now running and in the testing and play stage , as mentioned i'll post findings and sequence of fix and the other tweaks for all future reference .

A quad will help with getting textures loaded, bur fps still much dependent on cpu speed. i run an AMD 945 at 3.4 gig still get 10 fps at yssy but i usually have 90 or so ai planes in the area. turn them off and things improve heaps. now we just need woai to make fsx dedicated ai and maybe they wont be so much of an issue. Actually is there anyone payware or otherwise that make only fsx sdk planes and be interesting to know what effect they have on the fps.
Hey guys,
check out my review of Ultimate Traffic II for avsim, i think that you will find that this may help,
good to see you getting through it all ian,
