Well first i just dont like dealing with goggle earth copyrights and think there is to much of a myth and blackspot in the conditions to get into ,next would be that i think more ppls would do this type of scenery for themselfs by seeing how easy it was to put a area of NZ within 20mins once you know how by reading this tut http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=525
this would also mean that those same ppls would be able to put in there fav photoreal areas that i dont cover in my projects ..
If i was aloud to use the photoreal images for FSX distribution then i would in a flash
Hi Creator2003, I wonder if you can point me in the right direction please. I am having trouble getting any tiles to download at all in maps2bgl. I have followed the instructions to a T. I am using the maps.ini file on the aussiex.org pages. It is like every tile being attempted to download is blank. It trys for about 5 -10 seconds per tile then moves on? Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Matt

Also, is it possible to add Autogen or Airport scenery to them? If so I'm guessing it would be possible to created the Autogen/Airport files and distribute them for use along with this process?
There are two different ways to use your own photo scenery in FSX. Tileproxy is the only one which streams data as you fly. All the other tools mentioned here (plus the FSX SDK) actually create photo scenery, which you can then use in FSX.
You can add your own autogen, using the Annotator, and of course any airport would sit on top of the photo scenery, just like the default airports.

This seems likely a good place to jump in here with a reminder about copyright.
There seems to be a lot of interest lately in creating your own photo scenery, and there are some great tools out there to make this easy, but most of these tools create scenery from photos which are not available for distribution. Whether 'private' or 'public', it is illegal and therefore not even up for discussion on this forum. The last thing we want is the forum getting a reputation for sourcing scenery which breaches copyright.
Just a reminder, too, about how Google and other mapping tools work. There's always a lot of discussion about how unfair it is that Google doesn't allow any and every use of their data. The main reason for this is that Google is simply a mapping service -- they own very little aerial imagery themselves. So even if they wanted to, they couldn't give away anything. However all their imagery does belong to someone, so if there is a particular area you really want, look on Google Earth to see who owns the copyright --- it is normally shown on the bottom of the screen -- and talk to them about getting the rights to use the photo in distributable scenery. Sometimes they'll say no, sometimes they'll say yes. Normally you'd need to sign an agreement, but this is pretty basic. Once you have an agreement in writing, then you can plug your scenery here as much as you want.
Lastly, you need to be aware that using any of these tools may automatically breach the conditions of using any of the mapping services. Most of the services therefore have a system to prevent this sort of use, by limiting the amount of data you can download. There are a lot of discussions on the web about to overcomes these limitations, but this is another iffy area which we don't want to see in the forum.
