Mask Blend Question

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Hi guys, I'm putting together some scenery using SBuliderX importing images from Google satellite. What I cant figure out is how to mask blend the edges of the photo real images. I cant seem to find any tutorials on this subject and in the SBuliderX tutorials it doesn't really explain how to start masking just how to save your masking work to compile.

Can you mask using SBuliderX or do you use another program? I really have no idea when it comes to mask blending. blink.gif

EDIT :is blend mask an option in a picture editor, therefore when you use white on the picture, white will be shown as transparent therefore giving the blended effect? (Am I getting warmer?)

Yes white 255 is transparent and black 0 is the anything i dont want showing ,i use photoshop to make a mask normally by opening the bmp up and adding a layer then fading white to black to the edge of the texture ,
there is another tool i suggest using called map2bgl ,where this makes a ini file and a blend with the same imagery you are using with sbuilderX ,all you do is go into goggle earth save the area you want as a pin point kml file and then open the map2bgl software ,locate the kml file you saved before and this will download the images and make a bgl scenery file for you .
link can be found here that tells you all about it http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=525

Thanks Mike, been looking at thhe program this afternoon.
Just a couple of questions,
does map2bgl automatically blend mask the image?
also creating a pin point kml file, is this plotting path points around the airport in my case I want to copy and saving it as a kml file. The reason I ask this is, because this is what I have done around NZWP border and using the kml file in map2bgl it is wanting to download about 1000 tiles, which is going to take a couple of hours.

Yes it makes a blend mask only ,if you wanted a water mask you would have to make one, black and white again and add this blend to your ini file

i havent used it much so im not sure on the points kml thing ,ive tried a saved poly kml area but this did not work and still downed all the tiles ,
I think you will have to look into this more on more forums and so on to work this out better than i can help you ..
