well after a long hiatus of not doing anything on my cockpit and being quite happy, i have been granted, nae blessed with permission from the financial controller to build some panels, now i had done some thinking about panels, and i thought that with the plethora of light aircraft out there with the same hardware, yes you got it , glass hardware. i thought to my self in one of my sleep eprived moments, lets build two g1000's, a PFD and a MFD.
basics are a 12.1 screen size for both (sort of middle of the line size) with full working buttons and controls. I have got an open cockpits master card and expansion card on the way, the 2 12.1 lcds are on there way (ebay was my bst friend, got one for .99 and the other for $30, but i have to find an inverter and controller for the .99 one)
I have all most got the switches down, just trying to decide if i will mak my own buttons to custom size, or use a store brought cap, finding it hard to find retangular ones. I have setteled on the CTS 288 encoders, and will make some dual encoders out of two. just need to find a nav key and i will be all good. TG what encoders did you end up using?
i am in the stages of creating the surround and face plate, using software provided by front panels for this, makeing them in perspex, looks like costing me about $150 all up for both face panels.
will post some pics when i finally start building.
