Dammit!

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Have spent the whole afternoon trying to repair my FSX. You see, I installed the PMDG MD-11 this afternoon and when I went to give it a whirl, my FSX wouldn't launch.

Got messages along the lines of'

"Scenery.cfg file error. Local scenery directory (Addon scenery\scenery) in scenery area.115 not found."

Also had similar messages for 5 of my addon sceneries...

Turns out somewhere along the line my 'Addon Scenery' folder had been deleted. WTH??? Then to my horror I found my 'Textures' folder only had 3 files sitting in it. WTH???

I searched and searched and searched my machine, but all these files and folders had gone... gone forever! GRRRRR!

Was Googling the web for possible solutions and a few times posters had asked others with similar issues "You hadn't just installed a PMDG aircraft had you?"

Well, my PMDG 747 and Beech 1900D installations caused no such problems. But it does seem that something happened when I installed the MD-11.

Have just backed up my awards and logbook aswell as most my other FSX files and am currently doing an uninstall of my FSX and will reinstall it.

I've heard of this before: (I'm sure the same applies for the FSX version)

Best get in touch with PMDG, it will be their copy protection that has activated.

Interesting reading. I bought my MD-11 so, it's a little strange. I also downloaded and installed the update from their site.

I'll get in touch with them now and see what they reckon.
