Niiice!

Unfortunatley my PC might struggle with FPS with this with all that autogen. I guess I could turn it down or off but that would defeat the purpose of having it IMO...hopefully an upgrade sometime in the next year of the video card will change things.

The autogen here behaves a little differently from the default. First, there are really only trees and buildings, rather than the more complex autogen objects. Then there's the density -- even with 500,000-plus autogen objects placed, (which probably means at least 750,000 buildings and trees) it doesn't get anywhere near the density of the default. This is purely because of the work involved -- not every building exists, for instance. If there were a million houses in Auckland, then I'd need to place a million autogen houses -- not really a realistic goal:) Placing autogen on the default tiles is a lot less labour-intensive, in that you might just have a few hundred tiles to autogen -- Supercity is the equivalent of 2000 annotated tiles, whereas there are less than a thousand tiles which define the entire default tiles.

It should be possible to turn your normal autogen setting up -- in fact, to get a density which matches your default autogen, you really should turn it up a bit. And everyone is encouraged to turn it up all the way at least once, just to get the full effect...

Bugger this scenery alone might cause me to start flying with FSX. I installed FSX ages ago but was far from impressed.

You add this to Robin's other FSX Photoreal Sceneries as well as what others have done and NZ really does start to come alive in FSX.

Cheers

It grows on you winkyy.gif If your PC is grunty enough, then I think the graphics are better. That said - some of the FS2004 screenshots I see on NZFF are pretty stunning.

Lately, I've been clocking up dozens of hours in my ATR-500 or B737-300 - trying to build up my log with VANZ. For domestic flights, these have to be done in *real time*, so I often find myself just watching the scenery crawl by. It's a bit like staring at your defrag screen ... why is it so compulsive? laugh.gif ... anyway - I'm often *amazed* by the quality of the weather and scenery. The scenery is largely down to Robin, whilst the weather is Active Sky (thinking of REX). I always have live weather on and it's great to see it happen in the sim. All the combat sims I've flown simply do not have this.

To cut a long story short ... as I live in Dorkland, I can't wait for this [long awaited] upgrade from Robin. If you're short of cash, I'll be happy to pre-order.

I look forward to the other addons that people have planned around Auckland ,there is plenty of room for it thumbup1.gif ..

Last night i did some FSX tweaks beta testing this scenery on a 3ghz single core /8800gts 320mb graphic card /3 gig of Ram ,the performance i got was amazing around all the detail..

Settings i had
sp2 acceleration full install with all microsoft updates
Autogen maxed settings
scenery complex maxed
FEX clouds addon maxed at 2048 texture res
traffic cars boat ships air traffic 75 % all around
water at 2xhigh
actually i had Ian on TS and we had the same settings /aircraft ,and was only a couple of frames lower than him in most cases "WOW" thats high performance for a 3ghz ht single core

the tweak guide i followed is found here http://www.simforums.com/forumsand is right on the money without any overclocking at all ,
im 100% happy with the tweaks and performance it has created for me, be sure to read it through at least once ...

The scenery you've linked to is the FS2004 version. 'Supercity' is for FSX only. It'll show up in my store once it is released.

Many thanks for the offer but I can afford this one as long as she who must be obeyed doesn't find out smile.gif

The thought of having to pay again for the FSX equivalents of my FS2004 aircraft/sceneries is quite depressing.

Quick ... while Rob's in "Web Mode" ... ask for a "plain brown envelope delivery option" function to be added! laugh.gif
