house textures gone wrong!

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby madkudu » Fri Nov 13, 2009 9:32 am

This has been really bugging me for some time, all the autogen houses have wierd textures from other buildings like shops etc
I think Ive seen some screenshot somewhere else of someone who has the same problem, heres what it looks like...

Does anybody else have the same problem/ how can I fix this?

Cheers Jimmy.

This problem appeared with the Orbx installs , other areas affected were the roof gables , this was the only fix , as for the corner shop dairies as i would call them would require making new agn textures .

.... blink.gif so does that mean it would be quite complicated to fix unless I uninstalled Orbx? Have you managed to fix yours?

With Orbx, you need to run the 'FTX Mode' tool on your desktop to disable the new textures when flying outside Australia.

Yeah, I get that problem to. Ian is correct, when you have any Orbx products you'll see the shops etc.

Ahh so whenever I go flying outside Oz I have to go into FTX cantral and choose the "default FSX" option.
Well thats fine, I never do transTasman flights anyway thumbup1.gif
Thanks Heaps!

As Robin mentioned you can switch it of using the FTX Mode , but as many have found the switch fails , if the switch works , the other problem is you have to stop and start your flight turning it off and on during your trans Tasman flight . Simply the problem would have been fixed had ORBX done New Zealand with their own brand off agn textures .

Yes, the method they use is kind of dangerous, in that it can get messed up if you use other addons to update textures. It then becomes a bit of a lottery which textures you actually get when you 'unVoz'
Making sure that you don't have Orbx activated when you make any changes to textures would help, but it isn't a total fix.

i too had the same problem, i fixed it by installing the enhanced autogen packs from avsim, cannot for the life of me remember which ones i used, but i think it was the buildings package, i haven't noticed this problem with sp3 , so not sure if this has been fixed or not, only got my pc working yesterday and haven't really had a good look around yet

After installing all four regions plus the all the airport addons i found FTX controlled the ground level agn textures , enhanced autogen packs really did nothing - the Blue and Yellow , what i call the corner shop dairy affect was hightened by the the Horrible roof textures , this was addressed and a fix done ... this at least really helped , it did look OK .. i am still looking forward to see the textures return to the default and or maybe a Orbx New Zealand , since recent default install and PC upgrade we really get three different versions , as i do a quite a bit off autogen 'AGN' and getting it to mesh with the countryside it sometimes ...... those Corner Shop Dairy's dont look so bad .

Just need photos

yes I agree an Orbx NZ would be the best option....
And look its even ruining Robs amazing thousands of hand placed houses!!!! Typical OZ, ruining our beautiful photoreal scenery dry.gif

I have some house textures mostly done, but I've put them aside for a while. I just need to do the roofs, and a couple more houses. I've been walking about trying to figure the 16 most popular roof colours in NZ...
